AME_HANDMADESG TERMS & CONDITIONS

Bespoke • Off-the-Rack • Alterations

These Terms & Conditions apply to garments and related tailoring services purchased or commissioned from AME_HANDMADESG, including bespoke / tailor-made garments, bridal gowns, evening gowns, cheongsams, suits, off-the-rack garments and alteration services.

By confirming an order, making full or partial payment, paying a deposit, approving a design or alteration, or submitting an AME_HANDMADESG Work Order / Agreement, the client acknowledges and accepts the applicable Terms & Conditions below.

PART A — GENERAL TERMS

1. Order Confirmation

Clients are responsible for reviewing the details of their order before confirming it.

Depending on the type of order, this may include:

  • garment or product selected;
  • design;
  • size and measurements;
  • fabric and colour;
  • lace and embellishments;
  • requested alterations;
  • price;
  • estimated timeline; and
  • event or collection date.
  • Any subsequent request to change an already confirmed order may be subject to additional charges and additional production time.

2. Payment

Payment requirements depend on the type of order.

For bespoke orders, a 50% deposit is normally required before production begins, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

The remaining balance must be paid according to the agreed payment schedule and no later than collection where applicable.

Off-the-rack garments may require full payment at the time of purchase.

Alteration charges, additional design changes, rush charges and other additional work must be paid as advised by AME_HANDMADESG.

Card payments may incur a 3.5% processing fee where applicable.

3. Event Dates & Client Responsibility

Clients must provide accurate event dates and inform AME_HANDMADESG as soon as reasonably possible if their event date changes.

Where a client requests an earlier completion, fitting or collection date after confirming an order, AME_HANDMADESG will advise whether the revised timeline is reasonably achievable.

Acceptance of an earlier fitting appointment does not automatically mean that the garment will be completely finished and ready for final collection on that date unless AME_HANDMADESG expressly confirms this.

Rush requests may be subject to additional charges.

PART B — BESPOKE / TAILOR-MADE ORDERS

4. Bespoke Process

Every bespoke garment is individually made according to the agreed design, materials and the client's measurements.

The process may include:

  • consultation;
  • design selection;
  • fabric selection;
  • measurements;
  • pattern making and production;
  • fittings;
  • alterations and adjustments; and
  • final collection.

A fitting appointment does not automatically mean that the garment is fully completed or ready for collection.

Further fitting or alteration work may still be required unless AME_HANDMADESG expressly confirms that the appointment is for final collection.

5. Design References & Inspiration Images

Reference photographs, sketches, videos and inspiration images are used to communicate the intended design.

They are references and should not be understood as a guarantee that a handmade garment will be an exact 100% reproduction of another designer's garment, photograph, video or sample.

Reasonable differences may occur due to:

  • the client's body shape and proportions;
  • available fabrics and materials;
  • fabric behaviour;
  • garment construction;
  • drape and structure;
  • lace or embellishment placement;
  • proportions;
  • hand-finishing; and
  • tailoring techniques.

Such reasonable handmade variations are not, by themselves, evidence that the garment is defective.

6. Design Approval

The client is responsible for reviewing and confirming the agreed design before production begins.

The approved design may include:

  • silhouette and cutting;
  • neckline or collar;
  • bodice;
  • sleeves;
  • skirt;
  • train;
  • closure;
  • fabric;
  • colour;
  • lace;
  • embellishments; and
  • other requested design details.
  • Where reasonably practical, significant design decisions and changes should be confirmed in writing.

Once a design has been approved and production has commenced, a subsequent change requested by the client is treated as a new design-change request, not automatically as a fitting alteration.

7. Fabrics & Materials

The fabrics and materials recorded in the client's order or Bespoke Work Order represent the agreed materials for production.

If a material substitution becomes necessary and would materially change the appearance or character of the garment, AME_HANDMADESG will communicate this with the client before proceeding where reasonably practicable.

Natural and manufactured fabrics behave differently when cut, sewn, pressed and worn.

Reasonable variations in texture, drape, sheen, movement, lace placement or other characteristics are not necessarily defects.

8. Measurements

Measurements represent the client's body measurements at the time they are taken.

Detailed production measurements may be maintained separately by AME_HANDMADESG as an internal tailoring record.

Changes in the client's:

  • weight;
  • body measurements;
  • posture;
  • pregnancy;
  • undergarments;
  • shapewear;
  • shoes; or
  • heel height

after measurements or fittings may affect the final fit.

Additional alterations required because of subsequent body or styling changes may be chargeable.

PART C — FITTINGS & ALTERATIONS

9. Purpose of Fittings

Bespoke garments normally require fittings and adjustments.

During each fitting, the client should raise any concern regarding fit, length, bodice, waist, hips, sleeves, skirt, fastening or other relevant areas.

AME_HANDMADESG may document:

  • concerns raised;
  • alterations requested;
  • alterations agreed;
  • approvals given; and
  • any additional design changes requested.

The number of fittings required varies depending on the garment, design complexity and adjustments required.

10. Standard Fit Alterations

A fit alteration means adjusting the existing garment to achieve the agreed fit.

Depending on the garment and what is technically possible, this may include:

  • taking in or letting out;
  • waist adjustments;
  • bust adjustments;
  • hip adjustments;
  • shortening the hem;
  • strap adjustments;
  • minor sleeve adjustments; or
  • other fitting adjustments agreed during fitting.
  • Only the alterations specifically agreed with AME_HANDMADESG are included.

An alteration does not give the client unlimited changes to the garment or unlimited redesigns.

PART D — DESIGN CHANGES & ADDITIONAL CHARGES

11. Alteration Is Different From a Design Change

A fitting alteration is different from changing the design.

A request to change any previously approved design feature may constitute a design modification or redesign.

Examples include changing:

  • neckline;
  • collar;
  • bodice design;
  • corset construction;
  • sleeves;
  • back design;
  • silhouette;
  • skirt shape;
  • train;
  • fabric;
  • colour;
  • lace;
  • embellishment;
  • structural construction; or
  • other original design features.
  • These changes are not automatically included as standard alterations.

12. Changes After Approval

Once a design, fitting adjustment or alteration has been approved by the client and work has commenced, any further change requested by the client may be chargeable.

For example, if a client asks AME_HANDMADESG to change a neckline or collar and subsequently asks for it to be changed again, the subsequent request is treated as additional work.

This applies even where AME_HANDMADESG previously agreed to make an earlier client-requested change.

Where a new request requires AME_HANDMADESG to:

  • unpick completed work;
  • reconstruct part of a garment;
  • make a new bodice or top;
  • replace fabric;
  • purchase new materials;
  • redo completed alteration work; or
  • otherwise remake part of the garment,

additional labour, materials and production charges may apply.

AME_HANDMADESG will advise the client of applicable additional charges where reasonably practicable before proceeding.

13. Technical Limitations

Not every requested alteration or design change is technically possible.

Once a garment has been cut or constructed, seam allowances, fabric availability, existing structure, lace placement and other construction limitations may restrict what can safely or reasonably be changed.

AME_HANDMADESG may decline a requested modification where it is not reasonably or technically practicable or where it may compromise the garment's construction.

PART E — OFF-THE-RACK GARMENTS

14. Nature of Off-the-Rack Garments

An off-the-rack garment is an existing ready-made garment and is not individually made from the beginning according to the client's measurements.

Where the client visits the studio, the client should inspect and, where appropriate, try on the garment before confirming the purchase.

The client is responsible for checking the garment's:

  • design;
  • size;
  • fit;
  • colour;
  • fabric;
  • style; and
  • visible condition

before confirming the purchase where the client has had a reasonable opportunity to do so.

15. Off-the-Rack Final Sale / Change of Mind

Once an off-the-rack garment has been selected, accepted and purchased, the sale is final for change-of-mind purposes.

AME_HANDMADESG does not ordinarily provide a refund, exchange or cancellation merely because the client:

  • changes their mind;
  • changes their preferred design;
  • no longer likes the style;
  • selects an unsuitable size despite having had a reasonable opportunity to check or try the garment;
  • changes their event;
  • changes their colour preference; or
  • subsequently decides they would prefer another garment.

This clause does not exclude or restrict any statutory rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded under Singapore law, including applicable rights concerning goods that do not conform to contract.

16. Off-the-Rack Alterations

Where alteration services are included in the purchase or separately agreed, the alteration covers only the work specifically agreed with AME_HANDMADESG.

Standard alteration work is intended to adjust the existing garment for fit.

A request to redesign the garment is not included unless specifically agreed.

17. Off-the-Rack Design Changes

Requests to change the original design of an off-the-rack garment are considered design modifications.

This includes changing the:

  • neckline or collar;
  • bodice;
  • sleeves;
  • back;
  • skirt;
  • silhouette;
  • train;
  • fabric;
  • lace;
  • embellishment; or
  • garment structure.

Design modifications are chargeable separately.

If a client approves a modification and later changes their mind and requests another modification, the additional work will also be chargeable.

Where a new bodice, top, sleeve, skirt or other garment component needs to be produced, AME_HANDMADESG may charge for the new component, materials and labour.

PART F — CLIENT CONCERNS & RECTIFICATION

18. Raising Concerns

If a client identifies a fitting or workmanship concern, the client should notify AME_HANDMADESG as soon as reasonably possible.

AME_HANDMADESG should be given a reasonable opportunity to:

  • inspect the garment;
  • understand the concern;
  • assess the cause;
  • discuss an appropriate solution; and
  • carry out reasonable rectification where appropriate.

A request to change an approved design because the client's preference has subsequently changed is different from rectification of a workmanship or fitting issue.

19. Opportunity to Rectify

Where a concern can reasonably be rectified, AME_HANDMADESG should be given a reasonable opportunity to carry out the rectification.

If a client declines an offered reasonable inspection or rectification and chooses instead to take the garment or have it altered elsewhere, this may affect AME_HANDMADESG's ability to determine the original condition or cause of any subsequent issue.

Nothing in this clause excludes any statutory rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded.

20. Third-Party Alterations

If the client chooses to have another tailor, seamstress, bridal studio or third party alter, cut, unpick, repair or reconstruct the garment, AME_HANDMADESG cannot accept responsibility for defects, fit changes or damage caused by that third party's work.

Where third-party work changes the garment before AME_HANDMADESG has had a reasonable opportunity to inspect an alleged concern, responsibility for any issue must be assessed according to the circumstances and available evidence.

Nothing in this clause excludes any rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded.

PART G — DEPOSITS, CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS

21. Bespoke Deposits

A 50% deposit is normally required to commence bespoke production.

Because bespoke garments are individually designed and produced for a specific client, once production or material procurement has commenced, the deposit is generally non-refundable, subject to applicable law and the circumstances of the individual order.

22. Bespoke Cancellation

If the client cancels a bespoke order after:

  • fabric or materials have been purchased;
  • patterns have been prepared;
  • cutting has commenced;
  • sewing or construction has commenced; or
  • other production work has been undertaken,
  • the deposit may be retained and additional amounts may be payable for agreed work already completed or materials specifically procured for the order, subject to applicable law and the circumstances of the order.

Any cancellation request will be assessed according to the stage of production and applicable law.

23. Refunds & Compensation

Refund or compensation requests will be assessed according to the circumstances of the individual order.

Relevant factors may include:

  • the agreed order;
  • whether the garment conforms to the agreed order;
  • work already completed;
  • materials used;
  • design approvals;
  • fitting history;
  • alterations agreed;
  • subsequent design changes requested by the client;
  • concerns raised;
  • opportunity provided for inspection or rectification;
  • whether rectification was accepted or declined;
  • whether the garment was subsequently altered by another party; and
  • applicable Singapore law.

Nothing in these Terms is intended to remove or restrict statutory rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded.

PART H — COLLECTION & APPROVAL

24. Final Fitting & Collection

Clients should inspect and, where appropriate, try on the garment during the final fitting or collection.

Any outstanding fitting or workmanship concern should be raised before collection where reasonably possible.

A fitting or collection record may document:

  • whether the garment is approved;
  • outstanding agreed alterations;
  • concerns raised;
  • alterations requested;
  • design changes requested;
  • recommended rectification;
  • whether rectification was accepted or declined; and
  • whether the client chooses to collect the garment before recommended work is completed.

25. Collection Before Completion

If a client requests to collect or take possession of a garment before agreed alteration or rectification work has been completed, AME_HANDMADESG may record that decision.

Collection at the client's request before outstanding work is completed does not mean that AME_HANDMADESG represented that the outstanding work had already been completed.

PART I — COMMUNICATION & RECORDS

26. Written Records

Clients are encouraged to keep written records of important design, fitting and alteration decisions.

AME_HANDMADESG may maintain records relating to an order, including:

  • work orders;
  • invoices;
  • payment records;
  • measurements;
  • fitting records;
  • design approvals;
  • alteration instructions;
  • photographs;
  • videos;
  • WhatsApp or other written communications; and
  • signed or electronic acknowledgements,

for legitimate business, production, record-keeping and dispute-resolution purposes, subject to applicable law.

27. Work Order & Individual Agreements

Clients may be required to complete an AME_HANDMADESG Work Order, Bespoke Agreement, Alteration Record or other order acknowledgement.

An individual order agreement may record:

  • order information;
  • approved design;
  • materials;
  • price;
  • payment;
  • timeline;
  • measurements;
  • alteration requests;
  • fitting decisions; and
  • client acknowledgements.

Any specific written terms agreed for an individual order should be read together with these website Terms & Conditions.

PART J — GOVERNING LAW & CONSUMER RIGHTS

28. Consumer Rights

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to exclude, restrict or misrepresent any consumer right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.

Where applicable law provides a client with rights concerning goods or services, those rights continue to apply.

29. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Singapore.

Any provision of these Terms that cannot lawfully be enforced will apply only to the extent permitted by law, without necessarily affecting the remaining provisions.
